These terms apply when you use this site or ask Rivier Preceptor to help with a practicum placement. By using the site or our service, you agree to them. Please read them alongside your Rivier program's own requirements.

The service
Rivier Preceptor is an independent placement service for Rivier University nursing students. We search for preceptors and practicum sites that fit a student's Rivier course, prepare the preceptor and site details the student submits to Rivier (including what the Preceptor Request Form and a site contract need), and help find a replacement if a preceptor steps away.
Rivier University does not run this service, and the information on this site is not an official Rivier statement. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Rivier Preceptor, and "you" means the person using the site or the service.
Rivier's role and final approval
Rivier's graduate faculty make the final decision on every practicum site, and Rivier's Clinical Practicum Coordinator confirms the documents and contracts before any hours count. Rivier's Nursing Student Handbook, Program of Studies, syllabi and faculty set the rules for your program.
Where anything on this site or in our communications differs from Rivier's current requirements, Rivier's requirements apply.
No promise of placement, approval or dates
We work hard to find a suitable preceptor and site for you. We do not promise that one will be found, that one will be found by a particular date, that Rivier will approve a site or preceptor we identify, that a site contract will be signed by a particular date, or that you will start or finish any course or program on a particular timetable.
Preceptors and sites make their own decisions and may change or withdraw their availability at any time, including after Rivier's approval.
Your responsibilities
You remain responsible for meeting Rivier's requirements and deadlines, whether or not we are helping you. In particular, you are responsible for:
- completing Rivier's clinical requirements in CastleBranch and keeping every item current;
- holding a valid RN license in the state where your practicum takes place, and any license Rivier requires for campus work;
- completing background checks, drug screens, immunizations and any agency requirements before patient contact;
- starting practicum hours only after Rivier confirms your placement and contract, and only from the first day of the semester;
- staying in contact with your course faculty, your Program Director and Rivier's Clinical Practicum Coordinator;
- giving us accurate information and telling us promptly about any change.
Fees
Our fees are quoted individually, based on your program, course, location and timing, and your quote sets out what it covers. Charges made by a clinical site or other third party, and Rivier's own tuition and fees, are separate from our fee. Rivier places the cost of CastleBranch, testing, liability insurance and agency ID cards on the student.

Our guides summarize Rivier's public Nursing Student Handbook, program sheets, catalog, academic calendar and State Guide as of the date shown on each page. They are general information, not academic, legal or professional advice, and Rivier's rules can change. Check your Program of Studies, your faculty and the Clinical Practicum Coordinator before relying on any detail.
Communications
Sending us your details means you consent to our contacting you about your inquiry and placement by email, phone call or text message, as our privacy policy describes. Reply STOP to any text to opt out of text messages.
Acceptable use
Please use this site for its intended purpose. Do not submit false information, misuse the forms or chat, or copy the site's content for commercial use without permission.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Rivier Preceptor is not liable for losses that arise from the decisions of Rivier, a preceptor or a clinical site, from delays in approval or course progression, or from reliance on the general information on this site. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have that cannot be limited by law.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms from time to time. Each revision carries a new date at the top of the page. Questions about these terms can be sent through the contact page or the chat.

Rivier asks you to identify a qualified preceptor. We make that the easy part.
Tell us your Rivier track, where you live and which semester your next practicum starts. We find preceptors who meet your track's rules, check early whether the site can contract with Rivier, and prepare everything the Preceptor Request Form asks for, well ahead of August 1 and December 1.
- Preceptors matched to the track: an MD, DO or FNP in outpatient family practice for
NURS 511, a psychiatrist or PMH-certified NP forNURS 521, a hospitalist or intensivist forNURS 638P - Preceptor license, credentials and CV ready for the Preceptor Request Form, with the site's contact details for the contract
- In your own area, in New Hampshire or any state Rivier's State Guide accepts
