Include your Rivier track, NURS course, city and state, practicum semester and the hours you still need. Your placement advisor replies with next steps.
What to include in your message
Five details let your placement advisor start work straight away. Put them in the message box, even if some feel obvious.
- Your track. FNP, PMHNP, AG-ACNP, a post-master's certificate, Nursing Education, Leadership in Health Systems Management or the DNP.
- Your NURS course. For example
NURS 511,NURS 521,NURS 638P,NURS 559PorNURS 895. - Your city and state. Where you will do the practicum, and the state that issued your RN license.
- Your semester. Fall 2026, spring 2027, summer 2027 or later, and whether the practicum has already started.
- Hours still needed. The total for the course, or what is left if you are partway through.
If anything is already in motion, add it: a preceptor who said yes, a site that declined, or CastleBranch items still outstanding.
Why each detail matters
Each item changes who can precept you. Your track sets the credential, since Rivier accepts a family practice MD, DO or FNP for FNP students but a psychiatrist or PMH-certified nurse for PMHNP students. Your course number sets the setting: NURS 513 centers on childbearing families, children and adolescents, while NURS 639P belongs in critical care.
Your city and state decide where we search, because Rivier wants you licensed as an RN in the state where the practicum happens and its State Guide cannot accept FNP or PMHNP students in some states. Your semester tells us which cutoff you face: the first of August for fall, the first of December for spring. Your remaining hours tell us how many clinic days a preceptor must be able to offer before the term ends.

If your situation is urgent
Flag it at the very top of your note. A deadline only weeks away, a preceptor who has just withdrawn, or a semester ending with hours still owed each call for a different first move, and knowing which one you face lets your placement advisor start in the right place. Add the exact cutoff you are working against, whether that is December 1 or the last day of your course, so the plan begins from the real date.

Questions for Rivier and questions for us
Some questions only Rivier can answer. Your Program of Studies, grades, withdrawals and leave go to the Program Director. Course requirements and which hour total your course uses go to course faculty. Contracts, document checks and whether a site is cleared go to the Clinical Practicum Coordinator, and the final decision on a site belongs to graduate faculty. Bring us everything about the search itself: which preceptors fit your track, where to look in your area, how to approach a clinician, what documents to collect and how to keep the timeline inside Rivier's deadlines. If a question sits between the two, send it anyway; your placement advisor will say which Rivier office owns it.
Preceptors and other readers
Clinicians interested in precepting a Rivier student are welcome to write through this form too. Pick the preceptor option in the Program menu, then describe your credential, specialty, city and the days you see patients. Your reply will cover which Rivier tracks and courses suit your practice and how a practicum semester with a Rivier student runs. Rivier places its BSN, ABSN and ASN students with clinical agencies itself, so those students do not arrange their own placements. Students in those programs with a clinicals question can still write; select the undergraduate option in the Program menu and we will direct you to the Rivier office that handles it.
Questions Rivier students ask
Can I contact you before I start Rivier's program?
Yes, and early is better. Rivier's Handbook suggests beginning your search up to twelve months before the practicum semester. Before you enroll, it also helps to check that your state is open to your program on Rivier's State Guide, since some states are marked red for the FNP and PMHNP tracks.
Do I need my preceptor's documents before I write to you?
No. You can write to us before you have a preceptor at all. If you already have one who has agreed, mention it, and we will help collect the licensing and CV documents Rivier's Preceptor Request Form needs, and check the site's readiness for a contract with Rivier.
How will you contact me?
Through the channels named in the consent note under the form: email, a phone call or a text, using the details you enter. Tell us in the message box if you prefer one of them or have times that suit you best, and your placement advisor will work around that.
How is the information I send used?
We use it to plan your placement and to reply to you about it. Our privacy policy explains how we handle and protect what you share, and texting STOP ends text messages from us at any time. You can also ask us to delete your information through this form or the chat.
